Executive Committee

2023-2024 Executive

The election for executive members occurs annually as part of the May regular meeting.

President: Dean Pappas

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of PPS, presides at all society meetings, chairs the monthly meetings and the meetings of the Executive, and normally serves a two-year term. A commitment to a two-year term as President is also a commitment to stay on for a similar term as Past President.

Vice-President (position vacant)

The Vice-President is a stepping-stone position. It is a two year track leading to the position of President. The VP sits on the Executive Committee, assists the President in his or her duties, and performs the duties of the President during his or her absence.

Past President: Guy Ridgway

The Past President is the most recently retired PPS President in good standing, who is entitled and encouraged to sit on the Executive Committee so as to contribute experience and assist with the smooth transition of the President’s position.

Treasurer: Tim Young

The Treasurer is in charge of all revenues of the Society, keeps an accurate account of the receipts and disbursements of the Society, prepares estimates of revenues and expenditures on a monthly basis, provides a financial update at monthly meetings of the executive committee, and prepares a final statement of the Society’s finances for the Annual Meeting.

Secretary: Caroline Ridgway (acting)

The Secretary prepares and distributes meeting agendas and issues all notices of such meetings, keep all records, including minutes of all meetings as may be required by any by-laws, and makes all requisite entries therein. The Secretary may appoint assistant secretaries with the approval of the Executive Committee.

Membership Director: Linda Cardona

The Membership Director processes all applications for membership, furnishes the details of the activities of the Society to prospective members, maintains member name tags, and records the personal information of new members.

Program Director: Guy Ridgway

The Program Director is responsible for the agenda of activities at Regular meetings. The Program Director decides upon the program content for the meetings with input from the Executive Committee. Tasks include contacting and scheduling guest speakers, planning and arranging club presentations, assisting guest speakers at the meetings, and describing meeting plans in the newsletter (The Viewfinder).

Social Media Director: Sue Starr

Social media refers to how the PPS interacts with people in virtual communities. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and blogs are the most commonly used tools for the creation and sharing of content and information. The Social Media Director oversees the use of these platforms on behalf of the club. The Director adds or updates the information presented to the public through these platforms, based on club events, initiatives, general announcements, etc.

Projectionist: Terry Carpenter

The Projectionist is responsible for managing the use of the projector during meetings, which includes the projection of members’ images, and assisting guest speakers in using the projector. The Projectionist collects members’ images to be presented at Regular club meetings.

Webmaster: Guy Ridgway

The Webmaster is responsible for maintaining the health of the PPS website, posting information created by others, and updating pages, as needed.

Editor – The ViewfinderAnita Erschen-Pappas

The Viewfinder Editor accumulates materials submitted by others and presents it in the newsletter along with editorial comments as required by the Executive Committee. The Editor maintains distribution records for the newsletter and distributes The Viewfinder to members and guests attending Regular meetings.

Member at Large: Dawn Macklin, David Helmer, Caroline Ridgway

The Member at Large acts as a voice on the Executive Committee for issues brought forward by club members, and assists at meetings by helping the guest speaker, setting up equipment, greeting visitors at the door, and helps with planning, setting up, and staffing PPS projects.

Outings Director: Anita Erschen-Pappas (acting), Terry Carpenter (acting)
The Outings director plans and conducts monthly outings for the Society. Tasks include researching locations, making arrangements with a location, if necessary, for conducting an outing, providing sign-up sheets at meetings, and providing details for upcoming outings in The Viewfinder and at meetings.
